Disease transmission modelling

The disease transmission modelling will be coordinated through the Disease Modelling Horizontal Integration Team of which the specific objectives are:

1. To organise a modelling standardisation workshop and to advice EDEN teams throughout the project on:

  • The development of spatial R0 maps for selected diseases and how to connect them with agent-based models of environment changes (online and on site consulting reports).
  • The estimation of the importance of heterogeneity (in habitats, host, vector or disease distributions) in maintaining observed levels of selected disease and for candidate new diseases in any region (online and an on site consulting reports).

2. The development of models for selected diseases that may be relevant for other similar diseases to estimate the likelihood of the three steps involved in new or emerging disease problems in Europe; arrival, establishment and spread. (Work conducted through the PhD program).
