Monitoring of environmental change

The monitoring of environment changes in ecosystems at risk will be supervised by the High Resolution Environmental Change Horizontal Integration Team of which the specific objectives are:

1. To provide support to EDEN partners and advice on land-cover and land-use characteristics of relevance to diseases under study, i.e. habitat type, habitat fragmentation, processes leading to fragmentation and to the improvement (diminution) of habitat quality for vector-borne disease transmission.

  • Remote sensing standardisation training course.
  • Provision of processed imagery to the remote sensing data archive.
  • Maps with representative selected high resolution field sites for each Sub Project.
  • Preliminary high resolution image analysis for each selected site.

2. To provide a conceptual framework for the study of the impact of land-cover and land-use and their changes on epidemiological processes and identify key factors of risk and indicators for monitoring.

  • Specific conceptual models and metadata for each Sub Project.

3. To develop agent-based models of habitat changes relevant to the introduction, establishment and spread of diseases in Europe (Work conducted through the PhD program).
