First announcement: EDEN International Conference, May 10-11-12th, 2010, Montpellier, France. A conference on the impact of global changes on the risk of introduction, establishment and spread of Vector-Borne diseases transmitted by Ticks, Rodents, Mosquitoes, Phlebotomes and Culicoides in Europe; with particular emphasis on the use of remote sensing and spatial analysis techniques. - Workshop RO and related concepts: methods and illustration. 29-30-31st October 2008, Paris, France. INRA, CIRAD - on behalf of EDEN - and other colleagues organised a workshop on R_0. The workshop focused on one of the most important concepts in epidemiology, population dynamics and ecology provided by the mathematical thinking, the basic reproductive number, R, and its associated parameters. This meeting offered the opportunity to learn more about this concept and related ones, the mathematical methods they involve and their practical implications. See the presentations.
