A joint FAO-EDEN meeting
was organized at the FAO headquarters in Rome. The meeting followed on a request made in Rovaniemi by FAO as a member of the EDEN Advisory Group and was sponsored by FAO. EDEN participants included: Stephane de La Rocque (CIRAD), Jordi Figuerola (EBD), Hans Heesterbeek (FVM), Guy Hendrickx (Euro-AEGIS) and David Rogers (ZOOX). The main FAO participants included: Marius Gilbert (consultant), Vincent Martin (AGAH) and Jan Slingenbergh (AGAH). Based on FAO needs and avoiding EDEN PhD meeting was held in Paris on the 8-9-10th june 2006. EDEN Steering Committee meeting was held in Rome on the 19-20th of june 2006. |

| EDEN organised a second training of trainers workshop on mathematical modelling applied to emerging disease models from June 23th till 25th, 2005 at the University of Utrecht. Our host was Prof. Hans Heesterbeek from the Theoretical Epidemiology Group and leader of the EDEN modelling horizontal integration team. Attendance to the workshop was restricted to selected specialists from the EDEN sub-projects and members of the other horizontal integration teams. |

The EDEN Coordinator and interested members from the Steering Committee have been invited by the EC to a meeting on "global change, risk to human health"
which will take place in Brussels on June 13th, 2005. During this meeting, the final results of cCASHh -Climate Change and adaptation strategies for human heath http://www.euro.who.int/ccashh/
), coordinated by WHO, Bettina Menne & Roberto Bertollini, will bepresented. Representatives from PHEWE - Prevention of acute Health Effects of Weather conditions in Europe ( http://www.epiroma.it/phewe/ ), are also invited. Future calls for proposals in this field and possible future topics on this matter (FP7) will be discussed. |

EDEN organised a first joined training of trainers workshop on data-management, geographical information systems and remote sensing
from March 30th till April 2nd, 2005 at the Université Catholique de Louvain. Our host was Prof. Eric Lambin from the Geography Group and leader of the EDEN environmental change horizontal integration team (high resolution remote sensing). Co-organisers were Prof. David Rogers from Oxford Zoology, leader of the spatial modelling horizontal integration team (low resolution remote sensing) and Dr Willy Wint from Euro-AEGIS, leader of the data-management team. Attendance to the workshop was restricted to selected specialists from the EDEN sub-projects. |

February 2005, a crucial month for EDEN. EDEN has been officially launched during the Kick-off meeting organised in Montpellier the 14-15-16 of February 2005. The meeting included plenary sessions describing the objectives of EDEN, the strategy for integration and the description of work in each vertical and horizontal sub-projects. Specific sub-project meetings were held on Day 2. A workshop on data standardization was organised during the last day to discuss common data standards needed to achieve the multiscale integration goals. |
